Zack Snyder to Direct Justice League Movie

We don’t even have an official title for what everyone is calling “Batman Vs Superman“, but we do have a director for the Justice League movie – the unsurprising choice of Zack Snyder, the man behind Man of Steel and the aforementioned sequel to that movie.

This would make Justice League the capper of a trilogy of sorts. Internet rage is already spilling over the levies in some parts of the globe, second only to the gnashing of teeth that accompanied the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman, but that’s what the internet does – It freaks out over things it probably should have already realized was inevitable, but has yet to see any evidence that it could be a bad thing (no, I’m not taking Man of Steel into consideration).

But this is what these studios do. In anticipation of the upcoming competitor’s film such as Sony/Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man 2, a rival studio will release a big announcement to the public, either to ride the wave of comic book movie fervor or undermine it to suck up all the press noise in the opposite direction.

Of course, this exclusive bit of breaking news was first announced at that iconic online geek rag all the comic book movie loving kids are reading these days, the eve-lovin’ blue-eyed the Wall Street Journal! Makes perfect sense. The WSJ doesn’t joke about things like this (has it ever joked about anything?).

Beyond nailing down Snyder behind the camera, we know that Henry Cavill will likely return as Superman, Ben Affleck will be Batman, and Gal Gadot will be Wonder Woman. Will the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, or Cyborg be rounding out the lineup? Probably, but nothing is confirmed yet. And with “Batman vs Superman” arriving in 2016, odds are good that we don’t see Justice League anytime before 2018. And could they squeeze in a Wonder Woman film somewhere in between “B vs S” and Justice League? Only time and a good script (please, dear god) will tell.

At the very least, we can probably expect a consistency of visuals and tones between the 3 Superman-centric films, much like Nolan gave the Dark Knight trilogy. What do you think? Is this something worth cheering about? Or is this a disaster of supposed Batfleck proportions?
