Franco and Rogen are Set to Kill in “The Interview”

Who would you send to assassinate a whackadoodle dictator like Kim Jong-Un? Two even more whackadoodle assassins – James Franco and Seth Rogen.

In a film that will likely NOT have a red carpet premiere anywhere near North Korea, The Interview stars Franco and Rogen as a tabloid TV journalist and his producer, respectively, who have been tasked by the CIA to kill Kim Jong-Un. In this follow up to This Is the End, directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, you can expect the limits of good taste and risky storytelling to be pushed further than they’ve ever gone before.

Hopefully, North Korea and Kim Jong-Un won’t take the film too seriously, but really, when has that ever happened with anything, ever, in North Korea?
(UPDATE: While the Glorious Leader will likely see the film when its released, North Korea has already condemned the film and had a few choice words to say about its premise.)

From the looks of the trailer, this looks like another funny, tasteless romp from these comedic brothers-in-arms. It’s just too bad they didn’t get Danny McBride to play Kim Jong-Un, curly mullet, goatee, and all. McBride’s character on HBO’s Eastbound and Down, Kenny Powers (and oddly similar public persona), don’t seem that much different from the clueless, power-hungry, fact manipulating dictator the North Koreans are forced to love and admire.

What do you think? Will you (and Kim Jong-Un) be ready for The Interview when it hits theaters in October?
