Is Ultimate Spider-Man Joining the All-New X-Men?

Brian Michael Bendis, the man who has been writing Ultimate Spider-Man from the start back in 2001, dropped a bomb on his Tumblr account this morning. It appears that Miles Morales could be joining the All-New X-Men, either permanently or (most likely) temporarily, this September in issue #32.

The original cover art page by Sarah Pichelli, co-creator of Miles Morales (artist on his first appearance), is a direct nod to Uncanny X-Men #139, where Kitty Pryde first joined the X-Men. When Bendis posted the image, the only words he used to describe it were, “this is real! have a nice weekend :-)”

Here’s the whole piece:

Bendis pretty much uses his Tumblr account to show off some of his favorite pieces of comic art from the past and present, but this time he’s given us a peek at the future. Never mind that Miles exists in a completely different reality than our primary 616 Marvel Universe, but then again, the X-Men that appear in this book are from the past, likely now creating a totally new timeline in itself because of that fact (yes, it’s confusing, I know). Miles has mixed it up with mainstream Marvel heroes before, including Spider-Man and Iron Man, but could he really be joining a new team so soon after forming his own version of the Ultimates with his teen hero friends? I guess we’ll find out in September.
